FS#1838 - Falling out of bounds when colliding with an object
Whenever I walk into or even touch a wall or any other object in my way, I fall off the end of the world and get the following message:
Received out of bounds positional data, resetting your position.
The game freezes and it takes a long time to reset the position. It’s usually faster to relog.
It may have to do with the Mac client or my OS (X.3.9). I have downloaded and installed the client twice, updated (it finally worked after two days of “there are no updates” messages) and the problem persists.
I showed Aiken and Xopal and /teleporting to them didn’t work for me (they saw me though).

sounds like it might be related to
bug 1749but not on the same os so different end resultI fell out of bounds twice today on windows 2000. Did not experience that much before.
One time if was in Ojaveda, trying to hide from the rogues in the right area by moving into the shop and then backwards towards the wall. This caused the out-of-bonds.
Second time was on the tunnel between Ojaroad1 and Hydlaa east when hitting the wall on the right side.
Race is Ylian male.
also happening a lot to me… Hammerwielder character…
walking along hill.. slide short ways down.. and boom… out of bounds… resetting positional data.. and moved somewhere I had no intention of going to… and often take a lot of damage in the process….
Been trying to leave oja(1) for a while now… trying to go to hydlaa…. keep getting put near oja2 entrance….
I got the system message “Received out of bounds positional data, resetting your position.” while trying to exit the tunnel from Hydlaa to the Arena at the Arena end. I did not get endless falling or client freeze, the return to the start of the tunnel near the Hydlaa end was in just a few seconds.

Meh, even though I suspect the cause of this is the same as
FS#1749and maybe evenFS#1796, there have been enough reporting the same as this particular bug that I’ll set it new; even though I’ve never experienced it.Oh, and ‘The Wandering Djinn’, your bug is

” - Steven Schwartfeger (Vornne)
FS#1796Thanks -sorry for posting to wrong Bug report.
Yes, I got this bug once on OjaRoad2 on my Windoze binary client. Talk about troublesome!
Got it again on BDRoad1/2 a couple of times. Also note that the soundtrack turns into white noise/static for me when this happens.
I dont normaly have teleporting problems, but is quiet easy for me teleport in Gugrontid because this “out of bounds” problem.
So far just hapened to me when i am walking and go against or pass near the anvil in this city. Is about the position 35.63.89.77,7.08 in secotr: gugrontid, instance: 0.
I am running in windows XP.
Regards, Dzy.-
OK, just so you all know, there are two spots so far I can get this every time:
1. The anvil at gugrontid, run into the end.
2. The bench in front of Levrus in magicshop, slide along the end.
This one might be impossible to duplicate in SVN due to faulty bounding boxes in the (or at least my) SVN DB. Will try updating it though first :P
CORRECTION: The StoneBM model has a correct bounding box and can be used to duplicate this bug at the magicshop. Gugrontid’s anvil is an item placed on the map though, so that spot cannot be confirmed using the SVN client/server as the NPCRoom1 anvil does NOT exhibit this behavior.
This happened to me also often the last days. Before it was just a few times in a month, it happens now multiple times a day. But instead the map not found error my character is now relocated to a save place on the map. Happens to me mostly on ojaroad and when trying to walk on top of gugrontid. Touching the anvil near gardr lead also to the “out of bounds” error. Running 0.4.02 on linux
I went to BD one day, I had big difficulties climbing ladders as usual, but when i was trying to climb the second ladder (not the big one that goes in the tower, but the smaller one just after Easamau) I’ve got repositioned into space really far away and died from falling.
I reproduce the bug several time with the help of a GM.
I’m a Kran and i run Windows XP.
Zontick, another Kran had the same problem, but didn’t had the chance of having a Gm to reposition him.
And at levrus same thing happens, but the game trow me upstairs
This happens to me everywhere I go, no matter what race I’m using. Running 0.4.03 on Xubuntu, whenever I touch _anything_ the client crashes. If I’m staring at the system screen I can see it flash ‘out of bounds positional data, resetting your position’ right before the crash. Terminal output gives me the good ol’ Leaf Replaced:
DistributeLeafObjects failed: !leaf_replaced
Can any of you who regularly had this in game and can run a stable client with latest CS or could reproduce on trunk, test this again? The leafreplaced crash was related to bad bounding boxes, and the fix for that may have fixed this.
Though I only had it on very rare occasions (used to crash more than fall out of bounds), I’ve tried to reproduce it intensively in all of the places where I would have it and got nothing until now :)
- Edit -
I recalled of a place where I could - and still can! - trigger it almost everytime with release client (sliding along one of the upstairs chairs in the magic shop). Tried a lot with a stable client build with latest rev of CS 1.4 and it’s ok: no more falling out of bounds !
f-rd: did you try this with revision of CS1/9 32251 or later? Xordan fixed a bug in collision where the z-value would be computed incorrectly. I guess it might cause you to bump through a wall or go over an edge
Tried it with Xordan’s fix. Everything is fine, including that bumping over edges thing.
