FS#8044 - New players unable to use some crafting due to high stamina usage

Currently, trying to hammer heated ingots into a knife alpha blade takes so long and uses up so much physical stamina that at least some new players are simply unable to complete the task. They run out of stamina and get a message about being too exhausted to move, and the crafting stops. I think this makes it nearly impossible to train the crafting skills for blacksmith and blades making, and probably others as well.

Oh, I had to test this on a player-account, as my Gm account doesn’t have stamina drain during crafting.

Note: the stamina while hammering is determined by 2 factors:
- the skill mental/physical stamina required, in this case for blade making skill (skills.mental_factor)
- the race regeneration rate (race_info.base_physical_regen_still)

A player race with little physical traits while hammering for Blade Making skill, will consume about 4.6 stamina per second. And he may have about 200 total stamina. The hammering duration depends on his skill and the materials used, but it can be 1 minute.

We could lower the requirement of stamina for all the skills in the mathscript StaminaRatioWork.

My question is how does stamina feel while using the other skills? Or at higher ranks?

Adding my two cents. Hope it helps!

My question is how does stamina feel while using the other skills? Or at higher ranks?

From my experience, stamina is very relevant when starting with a new character. I find this good, as it gives a motivation to improve the stat. It also gives meaning to either keeping breaks, or buying and eating foods.

Mining is a slow burn of stamina, it runs out after some dozen swings of pick if I recall. Crafting depends on the task - the longer the Use action, the more I seem to hit the exhaustion. Though I don't recall facing a situation where I could not complete a task, so I cannot comment on the original issue.

After hitting Endurance 250 or so, stamina has rarely been an issue when crafting. So it feels like it is mostly relevant to newer characters. The only exception to this is enchanting gems, which uses a lot of mental stamina. But that is separate from physical stamina, I think?
