FS#2184 - Map not found
Players contacted me about not being able to pass a portal.
Phaat was on ojaroad1 trying to get to hydlaa, when he moved into the portal he got a loop of “map not found” messages. I jumped into the portal as well and got the same messages, so confirming for this one.
Timmothy contacted me with the same issue, when I teleported to him I was offmap in the arena getting the same message.
A little later phaat again, this time I teleported to him and did a /pos: (23:49:10) >Your current position is 64.70,-1000.01,-11.02 angle: 0 in sector: outer, region: (null)(null) instance: 0
Phaat has the same issue with the gug portals (not confirmed by me yet)
Phaat is using OSX 10.4.11

When I tried teleporting to those coordinates I also got the map not found messages. When I teleported to something higher than -1000 I could teleport to the map.
On laanx I just jumped off a map and instead of being sent to the start position of the map when I was out of bounds I got the following over and over until I manually teleported elsewhere.

Returning from the arena, the same issue happened again. I /died to get out of it this time.
This seems to only affect Mac and Linux, because I was following Jaxeha through the passage, she got through without any issues on Vista.
I get the "Map not found" message also when issuing '/teleport me map <mapname>', tho when I issue '/teleport me map <mapname> 0 0 0' it works.
It's not like that for all maps. So far I could verify that it works for hydlaa_plaza and that it doesn't work for Akk-Central and Akkroad1
I have rescued 5 today that have fallen off a map and been stuck at height -1000. I used /teleport <name> me to get them back on the map. 2 of them did not teleport to me. The others may have been restores.
With the last I was at -633.60,30.19,420.77 ojaroad1 which is the Hydlaa end of the map. After I teleported the player to me he was at 567.23,30.11,321.91 ojaroad1 which is the default start postion for the ojaroad1 and at the opposite end to were I was. It took a second /teleport <name> me before that player appeared at my position.
I am wondering if it might have something to do with camera view. This happened to me just now in first person view. If others had it happen in another view we could rule this out.
I do use linux. I was in the lower portions of the arena backing up down a passage.
Doubt it. This happened to me in both third person and free rotation.
I got my first "map not found" message 4 days back, while entering Oja town. The severity is progressively increasing for me, and now I cannot enter Arena at all (I was able to enter it until yesterday). If I check "load all regions" and "keep maps loaded", the game logging screen gives me an error "Region not found" after trying to load for nearly 15 minutes. I also got "map not found" at areas where the map does not load at all, most notoriously inside Trasok's upstairs furance. However I am able to move out of "map not found" in Trasok upstairs, fixing the error myself if I move quickly. But I can not move out of other "map not found" messages.
What I do when I am stuck in "map not found": Use /die command and walk out of Death Realm.
But now I got map not found in Death realm too, effectively disabling me from logging into the game at all!
This is severe!

seems like this is related to
bug 1796, i got the messages above after not being able to pass the portal on my macbook, tested with the release client on svn server.seems somehow the server cant find the region you are in so it cant put you back in a valid spot.
maybe it is not related to
bug 1796but still not surehere i tested at 2 different portals with 2 different outputs as you can see first time going from hydlaa_jayose to ojaroad and the second from the arena toward the plaza, reverse from the test i did in the last output.
Update: Today the bug happened again when I entered a guild house. However, I frantically started running around, and was able to "walk out" of the bug. I tried this another time, and noticed that I can sometimes "walk out" of the bug before the "map not found" message starts looping (usually first 10 seconds). Remember, 10 seconds is also the limit for /unstick, so I have a hunch that "map not found" may somehow be related to /unstick command too. Just a hunch though.
Portals are just one way of triggering this bug. With the affected sectors if you jump off the map or /slide yourself under the map then drop you get the same thing.
It seems to be the same as when trying to teleport to a map name and trying to teleport to a sector name. If you teleport to a map name it works. If you teleport to a sector name that is not also a map name and don't supply coordinates then you get Map not found. If you teleport to a sector name and supply coordinates it works.
I am finding the map not found error when falling off a map occurs with sectors that are not map names.
Falling off ojaroad 1 &2, bdroad 1 & 2, winch, plaza, jayose, gugrontid my position is reset correctly. Map name is same as sector name and the default map start is used.
Falling off hyoja2, bdoorsout, bdoorsin, NPCroom, hybdr1, kora and so on give the map not found error. Same message as if you tried teleporting to these sectors without supplying coordinates. People who get this when trying to leave the sewer behind the tavern are in sector swr-lightblue01 which needs coordinates if you want to teleport to it.
I've been getting this since just after the 11 day server outage and never saw it before though i have had #fs 1796 problem with the arena since 0.4.01. It happens only at the ojaroad1/ojaroad2 portal coming from ojaroad1 map. The portal is messed up and sometimes i can jump up onto the portal floor and get through otherwise its endless falling with map not found. The safe way is to relog then the portal is always without flaws and safe to go through. It would seem that entering the ojaroad1 map at the hydlaa end this portal is not being built/initialised properly but starting on ojaroad1 map it is. As i said in #fs 1496 im on Slackware Linux 12 32bit smp kernel running on a dual core Athlon with nVidea GF 8400GS viddy card. Could it be thread racing on dual core processors?.

while loading the zone go backward, and go to the opposite there wont be a portal there.
and yes i know there is another problem which makes this happens, but that i dont know :o
There may be several bugs mentioned here, but lets concentrate on the original one, that shows the 'map not found' error. I think Aiken is onto something with the mapname versus sector name thing. It might be that this occurs when you are moved to the map origin after falling of the map. Someone should check the code to see if the right name is used in that case.
That might be a simple fix, however, I think that you would still fall of the map :).
This patch do two things : it corrects /pos , so that it actually shows the region instead of null. It also correct the map not found problem, it had the same root : sending a null object as the region, obviously the game won't find the null region, thus the problem. This does not correct the maps problems however, just your position is reseted correctly instead of getting "map not found"

This is my first day on PlaneShift, and I've hit this error in the Hydlaa Square. I tried to download the patch in Tristan's post, but the link doesn't appear to be active anymore. So as of now, I'm stuck…
Travis: the patch is to fix a problem in the server, which means you yourself cannot use it, even if you build your own client. This patch awaits review by a dev to get applied to the code. After that, it will either be moved to the current server, or if that is not possible, has to wait for a new release. Until then unfortunately the bug will still appear on Laanx.
I tested kougaros patch (partly manually applied), based on the good information provided by Vonor and Aiken. It works!
This is what I did:
Before applying patch:
- in npcroom, tried /teleport me akkroad1, /teleport me map akkroad1, /teleport me map akkroad1, /teleport me map akkroad1 0 0 0. All of these showed these two message 'Cannot teleport me to map.','Map not found'.
- I teleport me to ojaroad1, walked (and slided) my way to and through a few portals, until I was outside the gate to Akkaio, on the map akkroad1
- I slided me up and forward a bit, until I was hanging in the air outside the map, then walked and dropped
- after falling a while (10 seconds), there is a repeating red message telling me "Map not found", confirming this bug.
- I now teleported to hyldaa_winch, slided me off the map there and fell
- after about 10 seconds there is a message 'Received out of bounds positional data, resetting your position.' and I am moved to a safe spot in winch. So this map is OK (as expected from Aikens observations).
After applying the patch:
- /teleport me map akkroad1 0 0 0
- This now loads the map for me, but since coordinates 0 0 0 are not on the road for this map, I appear in the middle of nowhere.
- I take a step and fall. After about 10 seconds, the akkaio map is loaded, and I am safely positioned on akkroad2 (apparently the safe spot for the whole akkaio map). Good!
- I walk 10 metres and am in akkroad1 again. I slide myself forward off the map and walk, fall down, and am also safely transported!
I consider this fixed, and hope someone can review and commit this soon.
Ahh, okay. Sorry for the confusion, I'm just eager to get back to the game. I was really enjoying it, but this bug has stopped me in my tracks. So good luck to everyone working on this problem; I look forward to its resolution.
So we just have to wait for this fix to be implemented at some unspecified time? That's a pity. Be sure to put a notice on the main website about this.
