FS#1782 - unstick /die and movement by GM not working
my charicter (calak) has goten stuck in the forrest i tryed to unstick it would not work then i let a GM know about it thay offered to move me i said no it is ok i will use /die however after i typed the /die command i was regestered as dead but it did not do the movie like thing that shows you fall to the ground and i was not moved into the death realm so i notafyed the GM about this and kindly asked if he could move me to a working position but the movement by the GM did not work aswell so i am now stuck in the forrest…. now this is not a problem for me as all i do is chat to friends however i can see it becoming a big problem for others my sys specks are

When I first teleported to Calak I could not see him. /pos confirmed he was very close to me. When I moved Calak to me he then became visible and promptly went back to where he was stuck. I tried this a few times and each time he went back to where he was stuck.
After trying this a few times /pos indicated Calak was near the entrance to Gugrontid. This was just before a server crash.
tested /die on laanx and it worked fine. not sure what else could have lead to this issue.
well it is not for me i am in hybdr2 if it help any stuck on the little hill befor the turn left side of the wall facing gugrontid on the side going down…. maby you can recrate it by gwtting yourself stuck there? i rilly have to clue what to do….. and i tryed /pos on myself loads of times and it went from hydlaa plaza ro hybdr2 back to hydlaa plaza a few times and then it went from hybdr2 to tutorial and back again a few times with a /die in between the plaza and the tutorial also a /die was used befor the tutorial each position was done 2 or more times befor the change of regestered position using the /pos command and i always stay in the forrest so…. its rilly a problem right now not that i cair but others might i just chat to friends anyways so theres not harm to my playing style but still others like to do other types of things
tryed unsticking some more and its saying moving back to valit position in sector DR01 but i am not there…..

i have the same issue in WinXP SP2 (3G ram)
the client was updated
in addition i do get the Guardian message on /die (but i dont move anywhere, and no map reloads)
Can this be related to
bug 1796? That also seems a macOS problem, near map changes at some places, gugrondit among them. /unstick or falling from the map would make the char go back to one position. Maybe teleporting to GMs location just made the char fall of the world due to the bug.no i do not fall through the floor or anything i just get stuck and canot get out becaus unstick and /die have not worked for me i will try /die when the servers stable enugh i can get on untill then i canot do anything also if you would like anything els from me when i can manage to got on then i will help you as best i can i am rilly all for getting this fixed as fast as is posable as it may not be for evryone but thows who have it could have a varry not fun game on there hands when thay are constantly needing help from a GM
*edit* ok may be related i loged on and pressed /die a few hours ago only to have the server crash well the same thing was hapening with /die not working not having the falling over graphics hapen and all (well i was not stuck) and i mannaged to log back a few min ago on only to be totaly off world and have the garphics bug of having the screen stay as it is say when going into the sewers and moving the mouse around at the right point on the ladders so you can see like 500 mouses if you move it around enugh or the same thing hapens when the you go off world and you get far enugh down evry graphic on the screen but the chat window, buddy list or any other windows you have open so the char creats this big line across the center of your screen and the mouse does the same if you move it along…. or it could be a completly difrent bug related to the /die not not working and the server crash or it could just be somthing random that hapens when i the server crashes and i am not

*edit #4* i am posing myself a fair bit and it is pritty much random moving around and its pritty much inposable to trade with an NPC this is a problem
Using /pos on the people affected the results change. According to /pos the person is jumping map to map while they are really standing still.
With Vorodie I had a lot of trouble teleporting to him. I would keep ending up anywhere in the world except at him. I would appear at another dwarf. A lot of time that appeared to be a ghost. Most times I used /pos Vorodie he would show as being on a different map to the last.
Between /pos and /teleport I had problems with 17 players. All of them a dwarf. Rescuing Calak and another I had to ask them to log off so I could do a restore. A restore was the only way I could move them to a known location. Could not teleport them to me. The few I had a reason to try teleporting to me would either not move or end up on another map.
Some I could only intermittently see. /pos showing them near me or on another map in time with me seeing them.
I have just been trying to teleport to Calak. Instead I am going to Grymaldus, Patuljake and Olovo with the last destination in the tutorial. Calak was at Gardr.
that may be explning the fact that i am seeing random dwarfs showing up behind me as i run somewhere and disapering shortly after and there all players it would meen where all conected in some way… i have no clue beond that but yea i am seing random dwarf chars aparaing behind me going down the path i was evin if i change thay do not follow then disapear so…. yes this is varry odd… good thing i like odd things

I have been seeing those ghosts as well. If I manage to teleport to a real dwarf I see the ghosts left behind as they run.
Dwarves seem to be having random positional data, I am stood next to harnquist after teleporting to the plaza on a dwarf character, my /pos data says that I am Hydcorr. I am unable to trade with Harnquist ('You are not in range to trade with Harnquist') but can still target and bring up my contextual menu. I am also unable to pickup an apple behind Harnquist when stood directly on it. Dwarves are also having problems mining because their /pos fluctuates, some manage to start, and while stationary get a 'you moved…..' error making the mining unsucsessful. I would test the mining, but cant buy, pick up or trade a Pick because I am always too far away.
i find if you turn slightly back and forth it stabalises your position fairly well i have traded with allelia harn and a few other merchents with that tactic any other way and i fail to trade with them…. also that tactic only works about 20% of the time but if you get the trade window open you can use that tactic to go throughout the steps and buy a pick…. its dificult to get the hang of but you rilly just have to push "a" and "D" alot switching from "a" to "d" and back to "a" and continue that patern evry step you do that only helps trading with an NPC tho other dwarfs/players would be pritty much inposable to tradw with evin using this
*edit* if anyone is running anything other then MAC osx and getting this glitch please say so so we can change the status to whatever systems are getting this bug becaus i dident know weather it was just mac osx so i put it as mac osx to be safe
Do not have time, so I will just be short:
- I set priority to flash
- temporarily added few testers in assignment, as they might get this bug more attention before I have time :), and add some info of the other bugs if related, and get a more clear description of steps to test this
- This problem would possibly explain several other recent bugs, mentioned above, such as not mining due to moving, not being able to open train window, seeing ghosts, (maybe even not seeing NPCS after map change?)
- in tutorial everyone has their own instance. Random pos might move players from one to another, making them temporarily visible. So this could just be a symptom rather.
- My assumption this was linked to the misaligned map bug was based on both having MacOs and the gugrontid map. I think that other bug might be separate, but did complicate the original report here. I suggest continuing further on Piziks tests with /pos
Some questions:
- is this MacOSX only? If not, please change Operating System field
- is this really dwarf only? From the number of occurrences, all dwarves, I would think so, but maybe there are other races with this problem?
- could this be the other way around and be the cause of the map misalignement bug? Some testers had this bug, but we often test with dwarves :) Could someone ask in the other bug?
Small addition:
From Piziks last test near Harny, it seems that the client does update position correctly (you can target NPCs and apples, get menus), but the server thinks you are somewhere else, which gives errors when ranges are test, wrong position of other characters, wrong own position from /pos
I am on linux and I believe Pizik is on windows.
A dwarf in the plaza had summoned his pet. I found the pet in the tutorial.

Seems like dwarves are being linked, unique identifier messed up in DB maybe? It may happen when a dwarf first logs in. When I first logged in, my guild mate saw me as the ghost image. This was my first impression too when I noticed it. I also saw the other dwarfs movements sometimes, even saw them /die in one case. I was thinking something to do with unique identifiers or some sort of mapping in the DB, but you guys would know best. Just thought I'd throw it out there, just in case it helps.
I don't think it is random, I think it is whoever moved last or logged in last, and that triggers all dwarfs to be in that position on the map on the server, until their client reregisters their /pos, and server tries to compensate. Then when that dwarf moves, the pos is changed for other dwarves as well. I think the last dwarf logged in may make more sense. Explains ghosting because of lag between the reregistering and the mining, trading, interaction issues, etc.
I'm on Linux 64 bit version, btw.

It gets worse. I am Enki. Seems npcclient was running at the same time. There was a crash shortly afterwards and I was fine again.
I am in npcroom and 4 /pos give me 4 different positions and none of them npcroom
I am getting "Edicho changes to a normal stance" messages
I can not see some of the npc in npcroom.
I am now getting the ghosts when I move and they are the same race as me.
In npcroom a "/slide me b 1" teleported me to the tunnel leaving the arena.
Just had a dodgy restore of Vorodie.
He was stuck in the arena so I did a restore near Harnquist. When he logged in he was near the north gate leading to Levrus.
after playing with this bug for several hours, it seems that my /pos (i was standing still, and others were moving) would point to the latest dwarf that moved

Yep, we formed a group of dwarves and Svuun and Kodris helped us out a bunch. Svuun and Kodris are not dwarfs and they could pretty much see us and what we were doing, though we had a tough time seeing each other. When a new dwarf logged in, they would appear next to another dwarf. We could talk to them in Main, and greet them, but they were actually in another part of Yliakum, Gugrontid for me and Jaycol was in the library in one example. Once we moved, the out of place dwarf would disappear from the other dwarfs view. But, they were still linked somehow as Jaycol ran or moved, I would pop in as a ghost from time to time, and he could resume talking to me in Main. I did the same thing to Bragan. We all met in the same spot and though we couldn't see each other, everyone else non-dwarf could see us. Svuun helped give us feedback we followed him around while we mined in the same spot at the same time. We were able to mine normally, actually collect some ore, and we never got the "you moved from your spot error and you don't see a good place to dig." When another dwarf logged in, the dwarf would appear by us, but be somewhere else, and we would receive the errors again as the /pos would go crazy again for us, showing the new dwarfs coordinates, though we were at the mine. I think Calak may have been online by himself after I left tonight, so he may be able to confirm he was by himself? Still not positive on the relationship of who's /pos gets passed on to others, but maybe it is movement or recent map changing. And we verified, it is not a random /pos, it is another dwarfs. Vorodie was in Gugrontid when I was in Death Realm and we compared /pos to the decimal point and many times after that. Also, not sure if it pertains to female dwarfs, but Stonebreaker and Hammerwielders were both affected, I'm a Hammerwielder and others were Stonebreakers. Hopefully this helps a bit and doesn't cause too much of a pain of to fix. Dwarfs are dwindling down, only a few logged in last night out of 85 total users. Thanks.
yes i can varify that i was able to do what i want well i was the only dwarf on…. i was missing my kin but other then that it was great
i did nothing but mine and attack a few monsters…. got to go an electrical storm is coming and i can hear it so bye again thanks for all the dupport and help

Not sure which thread you want to keep going, but female dwarfs are fine, they do not have the same /pos problem male dwarfs have.
little update on the issue:
i was located at gugrontid and Lothur was at Bronze Doors, claiming that he can see me.
i just traded with him and i gave him a healing potion successfully

NPCs from NPC room appearing in the world.
i met Dwarven Smith, and he agreed to train me over the allowded maximum (stat over 200)
Perhaps related, I jumped over one of those lines where the map changes/flickers, but it doesn't actually load a new map – and immediately died when I hit the ground only one foot lower than where I jumped from. It was very bizarre looking… jump, land right beside where I jumped, falling on my face dead.

It was heading toward the Hydlaa East map, through that corridor/cave thing.
This in the end does appear to be a duplicate of
bug 1834, which was not immediately clear as the fact that all of the affected characters were dwarves (as mentioned by Aiken) was overlooked.So closing as duplicate of 1834, which is now fixed. If someone in here still has a problem, please let me know.
