FS#2086 - Dieing when jumping through portal ojaroad1->hydlaa

When you jump through the portal from ojaroad1 to hyoja2, you die. When you walk through, you are fine.

Closing as duplicate of  bug 1796 . All these map portal things will be handled at once.

There does not seem to be any relation to #1796:

* I tested this only when #1796 did not visibly occur, i.e. the protal was displayed correctly
* Whereas #1796 is random, this is always reproducible
* This bug only appears at the mentioned portal, #1796 appears at every portal between different regions
* This bug never appeared before the most recent update, #1796 did

This is unrelated. See comment.

Re-opened so Cami can provide information on how to test this exactly, showing how this is different from  bug 1796 , or for Vornne to re-close it with information that will convince Cami better :)

Caarrie commented on 15.08.2008 17:49

for some people 1796 is random not all, i agree with vornne that this is a duplicate of 1796. it might also be fixed when 1796 is fixed, if this existed before 1796 then why is this only being reported now? we have no way to compare to what happened before to know if this happened before or after the map issues of 1796

Michael Gefen commented on 16.08.2008 13:36

i can confirm this issue. happened several times to me. i got " you fell and died "

Carsten Milkau commented on 16.08.2008 22:20

1796 is the older bug. There was a timespan where 1796 already occured, but 2086 did not. Then there were some map updates and now this happens everytime you jump through the mentioned portal (direction is important), in particular also when the adjacent region is loaded in the correct position. If I find a GM to port me back from DR later I can experiment a bit. But now I need to get some sleep first =)

Walk from ojaroad1 to hyoja2 and you should survive. Running and jumping over the hump is the dangerous bit.

James commented on 21.08.2008 06:45

This bug goes back to least 9 July.  bug 1904

This bug goes back to the old bug tracker possibly, where there was a bug about dieing when jumping (or walking sometimes) through portals. This might be a combination of other map bugs (including wrong data) and the fact that distance (vertically) may be computed incorrectly when maps do not have a correct common coordinate system.

This is not *nix only. I have it on Laanx with Windows Vista (release 0.4.02). Couldn’t reproduce it on trunk though…

Set new and all OS.

I can confirm this as I just had this happen to me earlier today.
